Pioneering an Industry
In 1985, Arnie Gast made a bold move, departing from a comfortable six-figure salary to pioneer the custom closet business in Lake of the Ozarks. From day one, he took ownership of his building and equipment, personally overseeing the manufacturing of each closet and storage system right there in Lake of the Ozarks.
As the business grew, Arnie's son, David, joined the company. David underwent comprehensive training, working in the shop, serving as an installer, and personally designing hundreds of custom storage systems by 1987. Equipped with valuable experience, David was prepared to embark on his entrepreneurial journey. Subsequently, he relocated to Kansas City, where he successfully established and operated his own store.
A Family Business
After eleven years, Arnie shifted focus to his growing closet accessory business. Consequently, David, along with his wife and three children, returned to Lake of the Ozarks. They assumed control of Arnie's custom closet business, managing operations until November 2005.
More Than Just a "Closet Company"
By November 2005, after two decades of enhancing Lake of the Ozarks spaces, David recognized that his family's business had evolved beyond a mere "closet company." Clients were now seeking his expertise to enhance various spaces, including offices, pantries, garages, entertainment areas, and numerous other storage spaces.
Improving Lake of the Ozarks Spaces
Hence, aiming to cater to the distinct needs of his Lake of the Ozarks clients, he rebranded his business as "Beyond Storage - a space improvement company." This name change reflected the widened scope of his services. As a completely local enterprise, Beyond Storage operates without royalties or franchise fees, enabling David to share these savings directly with his clients.
